William Henry Letterman and Charles Page Thomas Moore founded the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity on February 19, 1852 during a blinding snowstorm and a ragging typhoid epidemic, not as a Men's club, where politics and business could be discussed, but on the idea of service and serving others. The great joy of serving others is an underlying theme that embodies our fraternity and it is one that Mississippi Alpha holds at the highest prestige. Our chapter sponsors and co-sponsors at least two philanthropic events every academic year. In addition to those events, we also participate in several other charitable events. Every member commits to volunteer at least 15 hours each semester in the state of Mississippi.
