GoalsTo balance the educational needs of the student and the academic mission of the University;
To provide structure for an effective method of addressing student behaviors that impact the University;
To manage each case individually;
To initiate appropriate intervention;
To eliminate fragmented care; and
To be a resource for students, faculty, administrators, and staff.
The Student Intervention Team's Objectives
To serve as a resource for the University community in addressing student behavior which is not addressed by an existing agency of The University of Mississippi;
To develop and review policy which addresses aberrant or threatening student behavior;
To provide educational opportunities for University departments about managing aberrant or threatening student behavior;
To gather information about select situations and to assess the need for intervention;
To provide support for academic and University departments in dealing with difficult student behavioral situations; and
To make recommendations to the Dean of the student’s college or school, the Vice Chancellor for Student Life, the Provost, and the Chancellor of The University of Mississippi with regard to special student situations and aberrant student behavior.
