Minutes of the Meeting December 7, 2005 Union Room 404

Approval of Minutes: November Minutes were approved with the one correction of Jerry Moore resigning.
Treasurers Report: There were no expenditures in the treasurer’s report. The treasurer’s report was approved with no corrections.
Committee Reports: President Brent reported that Nina Cheshier has a meeting with the Chamber of Commerce regarding surveys they have dealings with childcare. The Chancellor is very supportive of a 12-month faculty and staff daycare.
Nina Cheshier will keep the Staff Council updated on any new information about the daycare.
Mary Harrington gave an update of the MASCO meeting. Campus wide surveys that have been done at other universities were discussed. Mary Harrington stated that the presidency of MASCO was turned over to The University of Southern Mississippi.
President Brent thanked Mary Harrington for serving as the president of MASCO.
Old Business: Adopt-A-Basket was very successful this year.
Paula Park announced that the time of the Exam Breakfast is from 9 p.m. until 11 p.m. in Paul B. Johnson Common. She received some really nice prizes for the Exam Breakfast, and that staff council members were needed to serve the food.
New Business: President Brent reminded the Staff Council of the Holiday Reception on December 13 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Union Lobby. President Brent encouraged members of the Staff Council to be present during the Holiday Reception.
There was a concern that the University would not be closed
on January 2. The University must remain open because Winter Intersession is
starting on that day. University employees are still receiving the 15 holiday
days that are allocated.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 P.M.
