Minutes of the Meeting November 01, 2006 Union 404b

Call to Order: President Ron Kitchens called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m.
The meeting was started with a moment of silence in memory of Officer Robert Langley.
President Kitchens welcomed Johnette Carwyle to Staff Council.
President Kitchens introduced our guest speaker, Amberlyn Liles, Oxford Recycling Coordinator. Ms. Liles discussed different types of recycling that we have on and off campus. The items that can be recycled are aluminum and steel cans, plastic, mixed paper, newspaper, and cardboard. If anyone has any questions please call 662-232-2745.
Approval of Minutes: The October minutes were approved with no corrections.
Treasurer’s Report: There were expenditures in Contractual Services in the amount of $110.00 for the engraving of nametags and also in Commodities in the amount of $276.00 for the Staff Council t-shirts. In the Textbook Scholarship account there were expenditures for the amount of $9,918.54. The treasurer’s report was approved with no corrections.
Committee Reports: Deetra Wiley gave an update on the Public Relations Committee meeting.
Shellie Harrison gave a report of the Election Committee meeting.
Corrie Free announced that the New Hire Brunch would be on December 06, 2006.
Priscilla Melton informed the Staff Council of the Art Sale at Meek Hall being held on November 10, 2006.
Dotty Baker and Debbie Binkley updated the Staff Council on the meeting of the Staff Appreciation Committee.
Old Business: Staff Discounts: If Ole Miss Staff go to Chamber of Commerce website and registered online for an Office Depot credit card you get a 10% discount on any purchase, personal or office.

United Way- Donations can be payroll deducted.
- United way goal is one hundred ten thousand dollars
New Business: The Executive Council talked about ways to help the Langley Family.
-$114,000 collected from stadium
-Fund at Merchants & Farmers Banks
Four Children- Christmas presents:
-Teaming up with Student Media Center- plenty of publicity for it.
-Getting people to donate.
-Getting list of clothing sixes
-List of what they want for Christmas
-Getting a drive together for it.
(Wants kids to have a good quality Christmas)
Staff Council party- bring gifts for children and wrapping paper.
Exam Breakfast December 6th
Concerns: Adopt-A-Basket November 13th
-Not a lot of participation last year. Departments should get together to makes a basket.
The next meeting will be December 04, 2006 in the Union, room 404b.
