Approval of Minutes: The January minutes were approved with no corrections.
Treasurer’s Report: The January Treasurer’s report was approved.
Committee Reports:
Honors Day Committee – going forward.
Lecture Series Standing Committee – Angela Davis speaking
International Students Standing
Committee – going forward.
Recycling Committee – Student meeting,
PR Committee
– Want to expand some of the current issues before meeting again.
Elections Committee – Ballots going in mail
Alcohol Task Force – Rachel noted that the committee presented the final report to the
Chancellor on January 23. The Executive Management Council is now reviewing the
report and is scheduled to make recommendations to the Chancellor on February
15. Once the policy is finalized, it
will be clearly defined and understandable
Athletics Committee – Will meet
Textbook Scholarship Committee – Closing out for this semester
SC Appreciation Day Activities – will be meeting soon.
Old Business:
New Business: Rachel suggested that a By Laws
committee be formed to effect changes to current Laws. Ardessa
will chair with Pat, Kim, and Tim agreeing to serve on committee with Ardessa.
Staff Discounts
Captain D’s restaurant is giving Staff discounts if
you show your id.
Parking issues
--Kim Chrestman commented
on issue at
University Smoking Policy
Discussed possible changes to
tobacco/smoking policy.
Announcements:
--Nine staff council members are ending their term
this month. They are Joey Brent, Johnette Carwyle, Kim Chrestman, Corrie Free, Patti Mooney, Jennifer Pardoe,
Paula Park, Jennifer Phillips, and Deetra Wiley. These people will be greatly missed and we
all hope that they’ll offer to serve again.
--Joey is asking for volunteers with web maintenance.
Concerns:
--There are complaints about safety of bollards near
the
--Speeding. concern about
speeders. Wants to discuss with UPD and administration for possible solutions,
but he feels speed bumps are not the answer.
--Pay stubs. Hard copies were mailed for the last time.
The staff was notified they would only be accessible electronically.
--Change of grade process – is there a plan to make
this process electronic?
--M-Book was accessible electronically, but there are
plans now to possibly print hard copies for academia.
