Call to Order: President Shellie Harrison called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM.

Minutes: MaryAnn Kerr reported that May minutes would be emailed to all for approval. Everyone was asked to read minutes and email MaryAnn with questions and/or comments. Minutes will be officially approved at July meeting.

Treasurer’s Report: Nina Jones reported that she was out with a sick child. The June Treasurer’s report will be handled in the same manner as the minutes. They will be sent out via email and any questions/comments should be directed to Nina. Treasurer’s report will be officially approved at July meeting.

Staff Appreciation Report:

Shellie thanked everyone for their part in making this year’s Staff Appreciation such a success.

Carol Bullard noted that Karaoke was a success in Southern Breeze.

New Business:

New President:

Shellie introduced Johnette as the new President for the upcoming year.

Chancellor Search Update:

It was reported that Dr. Dan Jones, Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs and Dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS is the preferred candidate for the University’s next Chancellor. Dr. Jones will visit the Oxford campus Monday, June 15, for open interviews with Ole Miss staff and community groups. A message will be sent to all students, staff and faculty inviting them to participate in the interviews.

Newsletter:

Benita Whitehorn asked if the newsletter was to continue as in the past. She volunteered to be the chair of the Newsletter Committee and everyone agreed. It was decided to continue with the plan to send out a newsletter twice a year, February and September. Everyone was asked to submit any suggestions they had for the September issue to Benita as soon as possible.

President:

President-Elect Johnette Taylor presented Shellie Harrison with a plaque to thank her for her dedication and service as Staff Council President. The plaque had a current picture of all Staff Council members and an engraving on the front expressing the Staff Council’s thanks.
