History
The University of Mississippi
Men’s Club Ultimate had its beginnings in the Kangaroo
Rats in 1999. The team competed around the Southeast until 2001 when its core players
graduated.

In 2004 the Club team was revived by a tight-knit group of Freshmen and
renamed Xanadu after a writing by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Since
2004 the team has thrived, with back-to-back Regional bids and several
tournament titles. Those Freshmen have now graduated, but Xanadu
continues to grow.

Excerpt from Kubla Kahn by Samuel
Taylor Coleridge
-
"In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree :
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea."
...
I would build that dome in air,
That sunny dome ! those caves of ice !
And all who heard should see them there,
And all should cry, Beware ! Beware !
His flashing eyes, his floating hair
Weave a circle round him thrice,
And close your eyes with holy dread,
For he on honey-dew hath fed,
And drunk the milk of Paradise.
