Dear Parents:

Carolina Orrego

Carolina Orrego

Summer is almost here, which means students are anxiously awaiting the end of this academic year. It is hard to believe another year has passed, and soon we will be waving goodbye to our graduating seniors and welcoming our incoming freshman class. Our campus is looking more beautiful with each passing day, and students seem to be enjoying all the amazing activities that take place in Oxford every spring. Socially speaking, many Greek and other student organizations schedule their formals, banquets, fundraisers and picnics in April. Also, this is the month for exciting SEC baseball and Oxford's Double Decker Arts Festival.

While lots of activities and events will happen in the next couple of weeks, it is important that you remind your students about their class assignments and final exams. In addition, contact them often, keeping in touch via telephone, snail mail and email. Keep the lines of communication open, and remain supportive. One of your students' best weapons against April stress and fatigue is talking about all that is going on with someone who is understanding and supportive. Consider paying a short visit to campus during April, and plan a fun activity with your students and their roommates. This can serve as a good break and provide needed support and opportunities to talk. Send care packages complete with favorite snacks and encouraging personal notes. Stress once more to your students the wisdom of approaching finals with the attitude of doing their very best and not worrying about what has or has not happened so far in the semester.

This edition highlights Ole Miss' next Associated Student Body president and a couple of our initiatives on campus. Feel free to share some of the information with your students and other parents you might know. As always, call us, write us, and give us your feedback. We love hearing from you, and so do your students!

Warmest regards,

Carolina Orrego
Assistant Director of Enrollment Services
