Instructional Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre

Andrew Flasch is an Instructional Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre in the Department of Theatre & Film at the University of Mississippi.

Research Interests

Andrew Flasch’s areas of specialty include music direction, collaborative piano, and music fundamentals for musical theatre. He is an award-winning music and vocal director for musical theatre, as well as a pianist, keyboardist, composer, arranger, conductor, and educator. Flasch brings professional experience from more than 40 theatrical productions across regional, community, and academic settings. Favorite credits include The Bridges of Madison County, Next to Normal, Sondheim on Sondheim, The Producers, and Little Shop of Horrors, the last of which earned him the Northwest Indiana Excellence in Theatre Foundation Award for Vocal Direction.

Andrew Flasch earned his B.S. Actuarial Science from Valparaiso University in 2018. He is earning his M.M. in Music with an emphasis in Collaborative Piano from the University of Mississippi. Before joining Ole Miss in 2025, Professor Flasch served as the Music Director, Accompanist, and Arranger for Southern Utah University’s Department of Theatre, Dance, and Arts Administration (2023–2025), where he earned the Red-Handed Award for "going above and beyond his job duties."  While in Utah, he also served as Music Director for four productions with the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival. In addition, he is the composer, lyricist, and playwright of a new musical, The Baby with the Bathwater. Before working full-time in musical theatre, he worked as an actuary specializing in pensions.
