Brief Bio
Ms. Candis Couch Varnell, Instructor in the Hospitality Management department received her B.S. degree in Vocational Home Economics at the University of Texas, Austin in 1973. Following eight years of living in Amman, Jordan, and raising three children in Dallas, Texas, Ms. Varnell returned to school and obtained her Texas teaching certificate. For the next ten years, she taught in the Richardson Independent School District as a Family and Consumer Science teacher. After moving to Oxford in 2004, Ms. Varnell obtained an Instructor position in the department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management at the University of Mississippi. Additionally, she currently holds the position of Internship Director for Hospitality Management. Ms. Varnell currently holds a position on the Historic Preservation Commission for the city of Oxford, MS and she formerly sat on the Oxford Tourism Council for three years.
