Erin Mauffray

Assistant Professor of Spanish Linguistics

Dr. Erin Mauffray is an Assistant Professor of Spanish Linguistics in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Mississippi.

Research Interests

Dr. Mauffray's research involves bilingualism, particularly the acquisition of Spanish as a heritage and second language. She is interested in the study of crosslinguistic variation in morphosyntax and pragmatics, as well as how experimental work in these areas can inform classroom design and best practices, and vice versa.

Biography

Dr. Mauffray earned her B.A. at the University of Mississippi in 2012 in International Studies and Spanish with a focus on social and cultural identity of Latin America. She served as an AmeriCorps VISTA in the North MS VISTA Project at the University of Mississippi before completing her M.A. in Spanish Linguistics at the University of Georgia in 2015. Dr. Mauffray taught high school Spanish at Murrah High School in Jackson, Mississippi before earning her PhD in Hispanic Languages & Literatures (Spanish Linguistics) from the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) in June 2024.
