Fred Anklam Jr. has more than 40 years of experience in journalism at the state and national level. As a reporter for The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Miss., he was on a team that earned a Pulitzer Prize and other national journalism awards for coverage of education reform efforts. Anklam was part of the original Washington reporting team at USA TODAY, covering the U.S. House of Representatives. He later served in editing roles as night national editor, White House and Pentagon editor, Politics editor, News Editor for the International edition, News Operations editor and Senior Night Editor. He retired in May 2015. Since November 2015 he has been co- editor of Mississippi Today, a nonprofit digital news site covering Mississippi government, politics and public policy. He has lectured before numerous Ole Miss journalism classes. He is a 1977 graduate of Ole Miss, holding a B.A. in journalism.
