The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Brief Bio

Fazlay S Faruque is an Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Geology & Geological Engineering since 2001. He is a full time faculty member at the Jackson Campus of UM, the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) since 2000. He is Professor of Preventive Medicine in the School of Medicine and also serves as the Director of GIS and Remote Sensing program. Dr. Faruque has been working in the area of environmental health with current focus on air pollution and medical geology. His research interest also includes geographic health disparities and GIS-based real-time surveillance system. He has been funded for his research by a number of external sponsors including NASA and NIH. Dr. Faruque has conducted several national and international workshops and symposiums. He served as guest editor for special issues of four geospatial related journals. He publishes papers mostly in the area of applications of geospatial technologies in health studies. Professor Faruque has BS in Geology and Mining, and PhD in Geological Engineering. He is active with international initiatives to bridge the geospatial science, Earth science and health science communities exploring interdisciplinary collaborations to improve our overall health and well-being.
