The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Brief Bio

Dr. John Wiginton is an Instructional Assistant Professor and the Director for Undergraduate Laboratories in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Liberal Arts, a position he has held since January 2010. He received his NCATE-accredited Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Mississippi in 2003 and his Doctorate of Arts in Chemistry in May 2008. Dr. Wiginton has been a journeyman electrician and worked as an enlisted nuclear electrical operator on a fleet ballistic missile (FBM) submarine in the Navy. On-line instruction is just one of the activities that Dr. Wiginton has been involved in at UM. His other interests involve chemical education with a specific focus on traditional and virtual lab development, professional development and continued learning for in-service high school chemistry teachers, and chemistry misconception identification in lower- classmen. He was chair of the Ole Miss local Section of the American Chemical Society for 2006 and 2007, is a member of the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Science Teachers Association, is a member of the National Science Teachers Association's (NSTA) Science Advisory Board, and is a member of the NSTA's Committee on College Science Teaching. He is also a member of Phi Delta Kappa International, the Science Advisory Board, the National Scholars Honor Society (Magna Cum Laude, Sigma Xi).
