Brief Bio
Dr. Jasmine Townsend is an Assistant Professor of Park & Recreation Management in the Department of Health, Exercise Science, and Recreation Management. Her emphasis is in Therapeutic Recreation. She received her Doctoral degree from Indiana University in Leisure Behavior with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation, and a minor in Inquiry Methodology; her Master's degree from Brigham Young University in Youth and Family Recreation; and her Bachelor's degree from Utah State University in History, with a minor in PE/Coaching. As a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, she has worked in a variety of settings including Therapeutic Wilderness Programs and Residential Treatment centers for at-risk youth, and community recreation facilities that provide adaptive recreation for individuals with disabilities. She uses her years of experience to teach the undergraduate TR courses, as well as graduate recreation courses. Her interest areas include family recreation, adaptive recreation, Paralympic Sports, and working with military service members who serving in our current overseas conflicts and their families.
