Jeffrey S Pickerd

Dr. Jeffrey Pickerd is an associate professor who teaches accounting information systems and researches data analytics, accounting information systems, and auditing topics using experimental and qualitative methods.

Research Interests

  • How accountants adapt to and are influenced by new technologies
  • How the auditing profession is evolving and changing
  • How to improve accounting information systems, business processes, internal controls, and information security

Biography

Much of Dr. Pickerd’s early research examines how lawyers and jurors make judgments concerning auditor liability. His current research centers around the intersection of accounting information systems, auditing, and technology.

His service contributions have also primarily been in accounting information systems. He is on two editorial boards for accounting information system journals in addition to having served as the AIS section’s awards chairperson, as their Midyear Meeting Coordinator, as their Research and Publications chairperson, and as a presenter at their New Scholars Consortium.

His service to the University of Mississippi’s accountancy program includes mentoring students on three dissertations, three directed research projects, and two master’s theses.

He won both the Outstanding Researcher of the Year and Outstanding Teacher of the Year awards for the Patterson School in 2021.
