UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES


The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Brief Bio

Kirk A. Johnson is Assistant Professor of Sociology and African-American Studies. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign in 1999. After teaching urban sociology and the sociohistory of ethnomedicine for five years at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, Dr. Johnson joined the Ole Miss faculty in 2005, where he studies news images of African-Americans. His most recent research is an analysis of network news imagery of post-Katrina looting in New Orleans. He also teaches undergraduate courses on the African-American Experience and Law & the African-American Community.
