Biography

LaToya Flint, PhD, CPA-Inactive, CIA, is an Assistant Professor of Accountancy at the University of Mississippi’s Patterson School of Accountancy. She earned her Doctorate in Accountancy from the University of Mississippi, a Master of Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Alabama. Before earning her doctorate, LaToya had a decade of experience in the audit profession, including Big 4 assurance and advisory services, internal audit, and audit talent management. Her research examines factors that influence both auditors’ and audit clients’ judgments and decision-making. Additionally, her research pipeline includes an examination of diversity and inclusion in accounting.

She is a 2023 AAA Accounting Historians Section Vangermeersch Manuscript Award recipient for, "The Power of One: A Memorial to Dr. Larzette Golden Hale-Wilson (1920-2015)” with Dr. Brandi Holley. Additionally, during her doctoral studies, she received the 2020 Patterson School of Accountancy Doctoral Teaching Award, University of Mississippi Graduate Dissertation Fellowship, AICPA Minority Doctoral Fellowship, and Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Institutional Award. She also received the 2015 National Association of Black Accountants Southern Region Outstanding Member award while serving as president of the Birmingham Professional Chapter.
