The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Brief Bio

Muhammad Ilias is Research Associate Professor of National Center of Natural Products Research (NCNPR), School of Pharmacy. Dr. Ilias received his Ph. D. from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, U. K. in 1985. Following two years of employment at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, Dr. Ilias took a position of Post-doctoral Research Associate of Pharmacognosy at the University of Mississippi. In 1989, he joined the Medicinal, Aromatic and poisonous Plants Research Center, College of Pharmacy, at the King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and worked as a Researcher for nine years. He joined the NCNPR as a Research Assistant Professor in 1998, and promoted to Research Associate Professor in 2005. Dr. Ilias has published numerous papers and book chapters on the discovery of many novel bioactive compounds from natural sources, and their usefulness for potential human use. Dr. Ilias’s research interest is “isolation and structure elucidation of bio-active compounds from higher plants with special emphasis on antimicrobial, antimalarial, cytotoxic, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective and immunostimulant agents”. He has received funding from the National Institute of Health. Dr. Ilias is the recipient of an award from the Commonwealth Universities, United Kingdom, in 1981.
