Brief Bio
Robert E. Mongue has a Juris Doctorate from University of Maine School of Law and a Master of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Mississippi. He was a trial and appellate attorney for thirty years in state and federal courts. His practice emphasized representation of individuals, small businesses, and major U.S. and foreign corporations in litigation of contract, corporate dissolution, construction and real estate, trade secret and non- competition disputes. His appellate practice included successful appeals to Maine Supreme Court and Federal First Circuit Court of Appeals. He served as York County (Maine) Assistant District Attorney 1978 - 1982. Prior to joining the Ole Miss faculty, Mr. Mongue was an adjunct professor of Paralegal Studies at Andover College and also taught Paralegal Studies at York County Community College in Maine. Mr. Mongue also provided dispute resolution services including private engagement as referee, arbitrator, mediator and neutral evaluator. Mr. Mongue's practice also included representation of attorneys before the Maine Board of Bar Overseers and ethical issue counseling. His publications range "After Hours Ethics and the Maine Lawyer," Maine Bar Journal, (Fall,2006) to "The Empowered Paralegal" series of books. He is also the developer of Empowered Paralegal (TM) Workshops, Seminars and Custom In- House Training. Mr. Mongue serves Secretary on the American Association for Paralegal Education as well as Co-chair of the AAfPE Scholarly Journal Task Force and is a frequent presenter professionalism, civility, and other topics at regional and national conferences He is an advisory council member for the Organization of Legal Professionals and the New York City Paralegal Association.
