Brief Bio
Susan C. Allen is Associate Professor of Social Work. Dr. Allen received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2001. Dr. Allen was Chair of the Department of Social Work at Hardin-Simmons University from 1994- 2003. In 2003, she joined the Social Work Department at the University of Mississippi, and currently serves as the MSW Program Director. She has published in the areas of social work license examination and social justice and public policy. Her research interests include critical thinking, teaching effectiveness, child and community welfare, international social work, and social justice. Dr. Allen was elected treasurer of the National Association of Social Workers/Mississippi in 2006, and serves on the National Steering Committee for the Social Welfare Action Alliance. She teaches graduate courses in human behavior and the social environment, practice with communities and organizations, advanced clinical practice with groups, and theories and methods of family intervention.
