Welcome to Principal Corps

A principal is an educator, but he or she is so much more than that - a leader, a decision maker, an advocate, a consensus builder, an analyst, a mentor. To meet the increasingly complex demands of today's schools, principals must be highly skilled and better-prepared than ever. The challenge for universities is to provide the comprehensive training principals need to lead our schools - and our children - to success. The School of Education at The University of Mississippi is meeting this challenge head-on with a new program called the Principal Corps. The full-time program was developed with the help of a generous grant from Jim and Donna Barksdale. The university faculty worked with a panel of educational leadership experts from across the country to develop a program that will lead the nation in preparing principals and other school leaders.
