ABSTRACT

The Effect of Country-Level Democracy on Country Financial Systems

The empirical study of the relationship between political democracy and financial systems is one on which little research has been done.  Further development of this study is hampered by a limited number of indices from which information may be gathered.  After a discussion of terms, limitations, and hypotheses, a bivariate correlation table is presented.  Through a trial study of the relationship previously mentioned, the effect of country-level democracy on country financial systems is tested.  The correlation table formulated is evidence that the hypotheses tested—based on research and prior educational study—are accurate.  Further limitations and suggested future research are discussed.
