ABSTRACT

Tires, Tylenol, and Testable Solutions: An Examination of Effective and Non-Effective Crisis Management Strategies

The purpose of this research is to examine the two crises in recent American history and the strategies used to manage those situations. This research will examine the 1982 Tylenol case study where Tylenol capsules were lased with cyanide and the 2000 Bridgestone/Firestone tire recall case studies to identify what strategies made the cases’ crisis management and public relations efforts effective or non-effective. In addition, this study examines crisis management strategies, a multidimensional crisis management model, and public relations theory.
