ABSTRACT

The Maturing of RFID: Moving Forward with Privacy Solutions

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags are used to identify items or objects using radio signals. Although the technology is currently used widespread and has a significant future potential, it could also lead to several privacy and security issues. RFID tags can be read by entities other than their owners and without their owner’s knowledge. RFID tags, which have unique IDs, can be easily associated with a person’s identity. This research investigates ways to protect a user’s personal privacy and ways to increase data security so that sensitive information cannot be stolen using RFID technology.
