ABSTRACT

The Impact of Terrorist Groups on America Law Enforcement

The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of terrorism on law enforcement within the United States. The paper will include an examination of the shifting priority, resources allocation, establishment of federal and states Homeland Security Departments, task forces, and fusion centers, emphasis on corporation between law enforcement entries(crossing the American boarder), and creating a more efficient and effective intelligence functions that includes federal, state, and local involvement. The impact of terrorism on United States law enforcement includes: shift in priority to terrorism by federal, state, and local, major resources dedicated to terrorism, establishment of Department of Homeland Security and laws and statues that have been created to address terrorism. Knowledge may be power, but in the world of Homeland Security failure to share this knowledge, understand what needs to be analyzed, and think globally could have a devastating impact (Ronczkowski, M 2003). The threat of terrorism has resulted in a national, state and local effort by law enforcement and academic programs to increase the knowledge of how our country can be more efficient and effective in addressing this threat.
