ABSTRACT

Changing the Face of Mass Communications: A Study of Blogging and its’ Effects on Media Perception

In the last ten years, the popularity of blogging has dramatically increased. This increase has not been limited to teen pop culture but has been adopted by mainstream outlets such as television, and newspapers. Although blogging has seen massive growth, it is still not fully understood by society in general or by mass media. This study aims to not only inform of what blogging is but to shed light on its possible place in the spectrum of mass communication in the future. In order to demonstrate, this study will use an analysis of mass communication theories and survey results to add to the body of knowledge concerning blogging and its role in the future of media.
