ABSTRACT

Predictors of Passing the Certified Public Accounting Exam (CPA)

This research examines thirty Tennessee Certified Public Accounting Examinees to identify whether there are factors that may influence the passing of the exam. The factors may or may not be controllable. Those factors that are controllable will prepare candidates before taking the exam and will cause the candidate to save time and money. This study will show if a candidate’s age, ACT score, high school grade point average, college grade point average, experience, race, gender and whether they attended an AACSB accredited school determines the passing of the CPA Exam. The regression analysis will identify if there are relationships among the examinee’s grade on the CPA Exam and the factors they obtain.
