Summer MathCamps
This summer the Center for Mathematics and Science at the University of Mississippi will be offering two MathCamps. Each camp will last one week, and will run twice during the summer.
The first camp will focus on encouraging upcoming seniors with good math abilities to consider Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields as their college major. This will be an exciting camp based on the popular television show “Numbers.” We hope to enlighten the students about the many possibilities for them in the STEM fields.
The other camp will be for 5th – 8th graders who show the potential to be good math students. This camp will concentrate on Geometry and Measurement concepts, and will give the students great insight into the capabilities of technology. We hope to inspire a real interest for mathematics in the students, and to improve their performance in mathematics. We hope that the students will gain a better understanding of the STEM fields, mathematics in particular, and will be more confident in their own abilities.
