Scholarships

Currently funded through the generous support of the Hearin Foundation, the Center encourages well qualified high school students with interest in and aptitude for mathematics, the physical sciences, or engineering, to consider pursuing degrees in these fields while simultaneously working with the Center to pursue teacher certification.  Their work with the Center involves mentoring in their technical field, leadership training, and weekly involvement in educational training and outreach.

The most powerful aspect of this program is the weekly involvement with Center faculty, staff and activities. Through these interactions, these students will reach the end of their undergraduate journey with
- a thorough understanding of k-12 education,
- the tools and experience needed to allow them to successfully enter and excel as a k-12 teacher,
- the knowledge to inform students about the available technical fields, encouraging them to consider majoring in these fields,
- a passion to improve our state through improving mathematics and science education in our schools.
