Dr. Johnny Mattox

Dr. Mattox teaches the fall class "Advanced Methods of Teaching Science." He has worked with the Teacher Corps since 1996.
Dr. Mattox says that, "Being able to instruct young science educators and see their interest, enthusiasm, and pedagogical skills progress has been a most rewarding experience for me in my years with the Teacher Corps."
In addition to his teaching duties at the University of Mississippi as part of the Teacher Corps Dr. Mattox is Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and Associate Professor of Biology at Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, MS. Blue Mountain College is a private, Mississippi Baptist-supported institution. It is, in fact, the oldest private women's institution of higher learning in the US, founded 1873.
Dr. Mattox teaches Cell Biology, Genetics, Science for Children, Methods of Teaching Science in the Secondary School, and the History and Philosophy of Science (a one-hour seminar) in the fall. In the spring Dr. Mattox teaches Botany and Zoology.
Dr. Mattox has served as a Professor at Northeast Mississippi Communty College and and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Dr. Mattox has taught at the Mississippi University for Women, Itawamba Community College, and Kossuth High School. He has been listed many times in Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
Dr. Mattox received his B.A.E and Ph.D in Secondary Education, Science from the University of Mississippi. He also received a M.C.S. in Biology from the University of Mississippi.
