Projects
I have found the two greatest teaching tools for Geometry are groups or a project.  Other math classes are a little harder to use projects as a good teaching tool, but Geometry deals with building closely and I use it to my advantage.  The most famous building project I am now known for in the entire school is the house model project.  In this project, the students design a house, draw the architectural drawings for it, and finally build it out of wooden popsicle sticks.  Other projects the students did in Geometry are the 3D geometric shapes, design a calculator, and origami.  In my Calculus class, we did a calculator programming project and a research project on mathematical concepts.

I measured success by how much they remembered from the project, how much they enjoyed it, and if they were able to apply it to abstract concepts.

The following are pictures from the straw polyhedron projects we did in groups.

The following are scans from a calculator project. The students were asked to design their own calculator, write a short users manual, draw the design and make an advertisement for it.
