Student teachers
Learning is done best when it has to be taught to others.  One of the greatest evaluations for student learning is whether the student can adequately explain it to his peers.  Students not only learn the material but they also at times do a better job of presenting it to their peers.  I include peer to peer tutoring in this category.  In my Algebra I lab, there was a computer curriculum for the class and while some would immediately get the lesson, others would struggle to understand the online presentations made via a recorded video.  I would assign several students to help the others when they were completed with the work for that day and it helped remarkably well.  In my Calculus class, I had some students review lessons before a test and give their approach to solving the problems.  This would help the other students to see the problem from a different angle and it gave the students a chance to articulate how they were solving problems.

I measured success by how well the subject was explained by the student, how well it was received by the other students, and if it actually helped other students to understand the material better.
