THE SYLLABUS REPOSITORY

Sharing syllabi across universities holds potential as a great way to share teaching ideas. Through the inclusion of syllabi from various courses on this network, new faculty may find suggestions for course structure; this advantage may be seen as a form of "long-distance" mentoring. Experienced faculty may also find new ideas to include in their existing course structure.
Searching the syllabus repository begins by discipline. Locate your discipline below, and see what your colleagues have planned for their students.
With outcomes-based education, the objectives are known by the instructor (and often the curriculum committee) prior to the beginning of the semester. However, these objectives are not always made known to students, who might wonder why certain requirements are being placed upon them. Syllabi may be of assistance in this arena, improving students' attitudes toward the semester's work simply by delineating the expectations at the beginning of the semester.
