Campus Management Status Report ~ 08-30-2002

Overview

A subteam is considering options for handling recruiting after the migration to CM. SAP's long-term solution will be based on its CRM product. UM will need to find an acceptable interim solution until CRM can be implemented.
The three admissions teams are actively working to define the admissions process flows in preparation for Bodo von Glahn's visit. Law has finished this part of its work.
Technical staff members have categorized legacy data according to the data groups that are defined in Udo's data migration guide. Wimberly and McCready are developing a strategy for data migration. Hale and Miller have initiated the purchase of an Oracle platform to serve as a staging area for data to be migrated to CM.
Thurlow, Hankins, and Norman are continuing to place heavy emphasis on event planning and booking and are making good progress in this area. Staff from the Registrar's Office will participate in this work over the next few weeks.
Honors student, Kimberly Weston, has selected CM Admissions as the topic of her senior research project. She will analyze the admissions process before and after the implementation of CM to see what improvements are achieved in terms of efficiency and customer service.

Academic Structure

Veena has updated the new proposed eforms course add/change form. The eform is being reviewed by several groups to ensure that it meets both the needs of the academic community and CM use.

A list of all degrees missing from CM has been reviewed. Some information on these degrees needs to be checked (e.g. exact titles) before requests are made to the departments to complete the listings in CM.

Due to probable limitations on entering academic history for all transfer students, prerequisite and corequisite checking for the upcoming March 2003 registration will probably not be enforced. Work is still continuing to have all the required prerequisite and corequisite information entered into CM before March even though enforcement of these may not be possible.

Student Administration

The subgroup reviewing Law Admissions met on several occasions. The process flow for law admissions has been mapped.

The subgroup reviewing the academic calendar met on several occasions. The recommended uses of the calendar have been identified. A final recommendation has gone forward for review.

Jill has completed the spreadsheet identifying missing data attributes. The proposal identifying solutions within CM has been finalized.

Charlotte has finalized the data migration proposal. The proposal has been distributed to the team leads for feedback. Also, a proposal on the elimination of grades and order/name of tabs has been approved (see http://www.olemiss.edu/projects/first/cm/recommendations/tabs.pdf and http://www.olemiss.edu/projects/first/cm/recommendations/mailgrades.pdf ).
The on-line grade submission proposal is being finalized.
The subgroup reviewing the Grad School admissions process has met to begin identifying the graduate admissions process.
Major events include finalizing the student prototype with as much customization as we believe necessary.
EOs have been configured and test according to the proposed EO structure by Tim McCready and Stribling.
The Law Admission process has been defined, and will be distributed to CM Team leads for their comments by the beginning of next week.
Gates and Ridgeway presented the Orientation Proposal to the Steering Committee for their review, and it was approved.
Linda Bailey has been working together with Maria Ko in research correspondence capabilities to support various processes within CM. IT staff members attended 2 days of training to teach the staff how to apply UM rules to the various processes within CM.
Authorization team met to discuss data gathered from the University community in regards to current legacy access. Gates and Stribling will try to compile this data into some sort of spreadsheet in an attempt to identify authorization roles in CM.

Work continues on finalizing the fee procedures and documenting the configuration and routines that have been developed. We continue to collect information for the interfaces.

Our work continues on print workbench and correspondence.

We experienced from problems with FM, which slowed our progress during this reporting period. Some fixes for the FM problems were recently installed in the sandbox, and we will test the fixes as soon as possible. We have worked on some data mapping between student master data and business partner data. We tested some cash at desk functionality, and we documented the IMG tables involved in handling incoming/outgoing payment processing.

The team made progress on solving the issue of converting outstanding balances in the legacy system to open items in SAP.
