The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy dedicated the Thad Cochran Research Center West Wing, one of the most advanced research buildings in the region, on April 15. Funded by several federal grants, the West Wing completes the two-building National Center for Natural Products Research complex. The innovative facility contains capabilities that could drastically improve the health of Mississippians and people around the world.

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists has appointed Gabe Hinojosa a member of its Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee. Hinojosa, a Picayune native in his fourth professional year of pharmacy school, has served in various leadership positions within ASHP. He is looking forward to working with his fellow pharmacy students across the nation.

The Student Health Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi has been helping students with their medical needs for 25 years. The pharmacy offers a variety of services that include filling prescriptions, patient counseling and administering immunizations. With a recent reorganization and addition of a new co-director, expansion of clinical services is possible.

The neuroscience research showcase offers a tremendous learning opportunity for students.

Three University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy graduate students won top awards at the university’s first-ever neuroscience research showcase. Hosted by the university’s neuroscience program, the event raised awareness about the program across campus while promoting research collaborations within several university departments.

Hailing from “Bulldog country,” Derek Oglesby did not expect to land and love a job at Ole Miss, but he has worked for the School of Pharmacy for 14 years and can’t imagine being anywhere else. From working in the gardens to dealing with large-scale mechanical systems, Oglesby, a principal R&D technical services staff member, has positively affected the school.
