Annual Activity Report

1.       The Poromechanics Committee is in its second year of existence, established on October 1, 2003. Currently there are 31 committee members.

2.       Total 8 sessions were organized in the EM 2004 conference:

  • 3 sessions of Biologically inspired porous materials, Helmich & Katti
  • Wave propagation, Berryman
  • Porous Media, Cheng (Co-Organized with Fluids Committee0
  • Poromechanics, Cheng
  • Thermoporomechanics, Coussy
  • Computational Poromechanics, Muralee

3.       Journal of Engineering Mechanics submissions:

§         17 manuscripts received from July 2003-June 2004.

§         12 of the 17 are for Frenkel issue

§         Of the 17, 3 rejected, 11 accepted or tentatively accepted, 3 under review

§         Last year’s statistics: 4 submissions, 3 published, 1 rejected.

4.       Progress of the Frenkel special issue: See the attached page for statistics

5.       The EMD is a sponsor of the Biot Centennial Conference at the University of Oklahoma

6.       The participation of Engineering Mechanics 2005 conference by the Poromechanics Committee is expected to be somewhat lower as the once every four years Biot Conference is in close proximity.
