Scholarship Terms and Conditions

Luckyday Scholarship amounts are calculated annually based upon your remaining financial need after grant and scholarship awards from other sources had been taken into account. The receipt of other scholarships and grants resources (including military stipends, veteran’s benefits, Sumner grant and funds drawn from prepaid tuition programs) may reduce the amount of your Luckyday Scholarship.

Full-time enrollment of at least 12 hours each semester is required; Independent Study course work will not be counted toward this minimum 12 hour requirement.

Eligibility for future years is conditional upon your maintaining a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) on all course work attempted at The University of Mississippi and demonstrated financial need as indicated through the annual submittal of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to May 15 of each year.

• Luckyday Freshmen Scholars are required to participate, cooperate and complete the Luckyday First-Year Experience Program during the freshmen year (or first two semesters) at The University of Mississippi.

• Luckyday Freshmen Scholars are required to participate, cooperate and complete the Luckyday Retreat held prior to the start of the fall semester in August of the freshmen year.

• During the first fall semester, Luckyday Scholars are required to complete seven hours of study hall per week.

• During the spring semester, study hall will be required for recipients failing to achieve a 3.5 GPA during the first fall semester. Speakers/programming, averaging one hour per week, will be required of all Luckyday Freshmen Scholars during the spring semester.

• Luckyday Scholars are required to attend class; multiple class absences will not be tolerated.

• In addition to maintaining an overall 2.5 GPA at the end of each spring semester, first-time recipients are required to achieve a 1.5 or better GPA, for the first fall semester, in order to retain their awards for the spring semester.

• Luckyday Freshmen Scholars are required to live on a Luckyday Scholars Floor, designated by Student Housing and Residence Life, during the freshmen year (or first two semesters).

• During the fall semester of the freshmen year, Luckyday Scholars are required to enroll in EDLD 105.

Failure to comply with all of the terms and conditions will result in the loss of the scholarship for future semesters. In addition, the failure to comply with all of the terms and conditions may result in the required repayment of the scholarship funds received in the semester in which the failure to comply occurred.

Maximum eligibility is limited to eight consecutive regular semesters (excluding summers).

Eligibility ceases once a bachelor’s degree is received.

Renewal eligibility for subsequent years will be determined at the end of spring semester.

If you withdraw from the University within the 100% institutional refund period (the first 10 days of classes), any scholarship that has already credited to your bursar account must be repaid in full.

This scholarship in combination with all other financial aid, and other resources (including military stipends, veteran’s benefits, Sumner grant and funds drawn from prepaid tuition programs) may not exceed the student’s estimated cost of attendance.
