Detailed Questions for Fall 2002

DETAILED QUESTIONS. This semester we are asking extra questions (items 12-16) about cheating or other unethical academic behavior to try to identify areas for improvement. Please answer "Yes" or "No" to the following questions. You may comment on items you feel strongly about in the box supplied, or on the back of the form.

12. I observed cheating at least once during a course examination.
13. I observed plagiarism or other cheating on at least one assignment submitted for this course.
14. I observed unethical academic behavior in this course and I reported it to the instructor.
15. I heard about, but did not observe, unethical academic behavior in this course.
16. The instructor should have done more to discourage academic dishonesty.

DETAILED QUESTIONS. This semester we are asking extra questions (items 12-16) about grading policy to try to identify areas for improvement. For each of the following that has been a problem in this course, please mark "Yes." If the item has not been a problem, mark "No." You may comment on items you feel strongly about in the box supplied, or on the back of the form.

12. The grading scale did not correctly reflect student achievement because it was too lenient.
13. The grading scale did not correctly reflect student achievement because it was too rigorous.
14. Some grading criteria were inappropriate or irrelevant to course goals.
15. There was bias or favoritism for some students in grading.
16. Grading occurred so infrequently that students could not tell how they were doing during the course.

DETAILED QUESTIONS. This semester we are asking extra questions (items 12-16) about the instructor's style to try to identify areas for improvement. For each of the following that has been a problem in this course, please mark "Yes." If the item has not been a problem, mark "No."

12. The instructor had distracting mannerisms.
13. The instructor added little to the material available in the text.
14. The instructor ignored recent developments that should have been covered.
15. The instructor was defensive or intolerant about dissenting opinions.
16. The instructor was indifferent to student input and concerns.

DETAILED QUESTIONS. This semester we are asking extra questions (items 12-16) about the reading material required or recommended for this course to try to identify areas for improvement. For each of the following that has been a problem in this course, please mark "Yes." If the item has not been a problem, or the question does not pertain to this course, mark "No."

12. The content or quality of required books or other required readings was inadequate.
13. Some required books or other required readings seemed to be irrelevant to the course goals.
14. Required books or other required readings were too expensive to be a good value.
15. Books or other readings that were recommended (but not required) were of little value in meeting course goals.
16. The amount of reading required for this course was excessive.


Detailed Questions for Fall 2000

DETAILED QUESTIONS. This semester we are asking extra questions (items 12-16) about course examinations, to try to identify areas for improvement. For each of the following that has been a problem in this course, please mark "Yes." If the item has not been a problem, mark "No."

12. Examinations included irrelevant and inappropriate material that the instructor did not emphasize.
13. Examinations were unreasonably difficult.
14. Examinations were too easy.
15. Examinations were too long for the allotted time.
16. Plagiarism or cheating on exams went undetected or unpunished.

DETAILED QUESTIONS. This semester we are asking extra questions (items 12-16) about use of class time, to try to identify areas for improvement. For each of the following that has been a problem in this course, please mark "Yes." If the item has not been a problem, mark "No."

12. Too much time was spent on irrelevant topics or activities.
13. The class was allowed to become unruly too often.
14. Too many classes were canceled.
15. Class was let out early too often.
16. Class was kept over time too often.

12. Lighting was not adequate
13. Heating or cooling was not adequate
14. External noise was distracting
15. Electronic equipment (overhead projectors, tape players, etc.) malfunctioned
