Message from the Chancellor
Dear University of Mississippi Community:
he UM 2020 Strategic Plan is the result of almost two years of dedicated effort on the part of the Strategic Planning Council, the Provost, and many members of the university community. At the beginning of this journey, the University asked for your ideas about what is most important for our future success through the UM 2020 Vision Survey. From over 10,000 ideas that were submitted through the survey and reams of other institutional data, the Strategic Planning Council developed the seven Priorities of Excellence that make up the heart of the UM 2020 plan. None of this could have been accomplished without the thoughts and energy of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends who took the time to contribute.
We are now entering a new phase, one in which the University will take this plan and make it a reality. This spring, offices and departments across campus have used the framework of the UM 2020 Strategic Plan to craft their own strategic goals. Each of these unit-level plans, when combined with the 95 university-wide initiatives contained in the plan, will move the University of Mississippi closer to its vision, which is to lead and excel by engaging minds, transforming lives, and serving others. My thanks go to everyone who labored long and hard to bring this plan to completion – and to every member of the team who now takes responsibility for bringing it to life.
Chancellor Dan Jones
