Submission Guidelines
Literary journal of the University of Mississippi, Oxford, MS. Publishes fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, black and white artwork and photographs (8"x11" max.). Magazine, 6˛ x 9˛; 126 pages; annual, established 1995. Circulation: 1000.
Recently published works by Dan Chaon, Steve Almond, Tom Chandler, George Singleton, Janisse Ray, Shay Youngblood, Charles Wright, and Alan Michael Parker.
Reading period is July 15 - November 15. Receives 200 ms/month, publishes 4-6 stories and 10-20 poems per issue. Responds in 2 months to manuscripts.
Single issue, $10; subscription rate, $8/year; sample copy, $5.
Needs: Fiction, poetry, non-fiction of all varieties. New and established writers. No genres, just quality work.
Submit: Fiction, non-fiction, poetry: send complete manuscript (disposable copy) addressed to appropriate editor. Artwork: send a quality reproduction (no originals, please), size 8" x 11" or smaller. Write "artwork/photography enclosed" on the envelope. All submissions must include a cover letter including brief bio and SASE for response only. Accepts multiple submissions, does not accept electronic submissions or simultaneous submissions.
Payment/Terms: Pays a small honorarium and two contributoršs copies on publication. Acquires first North American serial rights.
Advice: Thrill us. We are interested in solid writing and compelling stories beyond the traditional form and regional subjects. Donšt send your story about the sensitive boy on his first hunting trip unless your piece really reinvents the genre.
