Submission Guidelines
Literary journal of the University
of Mississippi, Oxford, MS. Publishes fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, black and white
artwork and photographs (8"x11" max.). Magazine,
6" x 9"; 126 pages; annual, established 1995. Circulation: 1000.
Recently published works by Jack Pendarvis, Gary Short, Michael Blumenthal, Nick Flynn, Kim Addonizio, Randall Keenan, Brad Watson, and Jake Adam York.
Reading period
is July 15 - November 1. Receives 200 ms/month, publishes 4-6 stories and
10-20 poems per issue. Responds in 2-4 months to
manuscripts.
Single issue, $10; subscription rate, $8/year; sample copy, $5.
Needs: Fiction,
poetry, non-fiction of all varieties. New and established
writers. No genres, just quality work.
- Poetry: send 3-5 poems, include a cover letter and SASE.
- Fiction: Manuscripts up to 25 pages, include a cover letter and SASE.
- Non-fiction: Essays up to 25 pages, include a cover letter and SASE.
- All genres: Send one submission per reading period unless encouraged by the editors to send more.
Address all submissions to the attention of the appropriate editor.
Payment/Terms: Pays two contributor's copies. Acquires first North American serial rights.
Submit: Fiction,
non-fiction, poetry: send complete manuscript (disposable copy) addressed to
appropriate editor. Artwork: send a quality
reproduction (no originals, please), size 8" x 11" or
smaller. Write "artwork/photography enclosed" on the
envelope.
All submissions must include a cover letter including brief bio and
SASE for response only. We accept simultaneous submissions, but we do not accept electronic submissions unless the author lives
outside the United States.
