Scientific: Ilex Vomitoria

Flowers: Dioecious.
Fruit: Shiny small red fruit that look like they have been shined.
Growth Habit: Small tree that grows 15' to 25' tall and 10' to 15' wide.
Leaves: Serrated margins with a rounded tip (no bristles). Is light green and less than 1" long.
Other: Has grey twigs and is very brittle (don't use in public areas). A native small tree that is hardy to zone 7 and is very drought tolerant. Has red shiny fruit in winter. Likes sun or part shade. Like all hollies, this is a dioecious plant. Will tolerate moist conditions. Ingestion of the fruit and/or leaves will cause vomiting.
