John Latartara

Biography

Dr. John Latartara is an associate professor of music theory whose scholarly research focuses on timbre in Western classical, Asian, and electronic music. He has presented his work at regional, national, and international conferences throughout North America, Europe and Southeast Asia, including the national conferences of the Society for Music Theory and the Society for Ethnomusicology. His articles have appeared in Asian Music, Twentieth-Century Music, Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy, Journal of Musicological Research, College Music Symposium, Current Musicology, Ethnomusicology, and Indiana Theory Review. Dr. Latartara is the recipient of a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award (2008), multiple Senior Scholar Summer Research Grants from The University of Mississippi (2004, 2005, 2014, 2019), and the Malcolm S. Morse Memorial Foundation Award (2001).
