ABSTRACT

Web Based Video Streaming

The Computer Science Program  has an ongoing interest in the remote use of robot arms in education. Critical to success of this project is finding realtime, streaming videos that are efficient.

Traditionally, in a web based project with video,  the streaming video is the bottleneck. My research goal is to download and test realtime, streaming video broadcast software to determine the most effective software for the robot arm web application in the computer science department.   Currently, the Robot Arm project allows students from remote sites to use the arm to play the game Tic Tac Toe.  The students can play the computer or each other.  We determined that from among the many remaining tasks on the Robot Arm project, the one that fast, realtime, streaming video is critical to the overall success of the project.  The project is currently using video broadcast software but it is slow and not very effective.  New software is needed and I will attempt to find the best existing streaming video software and include it in the existing web site.  This should speed up the video portion of the project.
