An innovative approach to quality of life research resulted in a coveted award for pharmacy administration professor John P. Bentley. The International Society for Quality of Life Research presented Bentley with the Outstanding Article of the Year Award for his paper highlighting the research.

‘Day of Thanks’ planned for Nov. 14

Donations of any amount are encouraged during the Day of Thanks.

On Nov. 14, the pharmacy school will participate in a 24-hour initiative to raise funds for student, faculty and research support. Ole Miss Pharmacy Day of Thanks will accept donations through an online crowdfunding site. Social media will play a large role in the initiative, and young alumni and students are encouraged to take part.

Students advocate for profession during Pharmacists Month

Some 40 students volunteered for Pharm at the Parham.

In October, pharmacy students celebrated American Pharmacists Month, an opportunity for pharmacists across the nation to draw attention to their work and promote their profession. Two UM student-led initiatives, Pharm at the Parham and Operation Immunization, were highly successful.

Professor promotes pharmacists’ role in cardiometabolic care

Daniel Riche, associate professor of pharmacy practice, is working to expand the role of pharmacists in the care of patients with cardiometabolic diseases. He presented on this topic at the 2014 Cardiometabolic Health Congress in Boston, Oct. 22-25. Riche was the first pharmacist in the event’s history to be invited as a distinguished faculty member.

Susan A. Cantrell (BSPh 83) is passionate about helping students. That passion fueled the idea for her book, Letters to a Young Pharmacist: Sage Advice on Life and Career from Extraordinary Pharmacists, which was published in April. The book shares insightful stories from seasoned professionals in an effort to better prepare future pharmacists.
