Alumni celebrate reunions at Pharmacy Weekend

The annual School of Pharmacy Scholarship Golf Tournament is set for Friday, April 17.

It’s that time of year again – Pharmacy Weekend is right around the corner. With more classes than ever celebrating reunions, the School of Pharmacy is encouraging graduates to register online for the event. The April 17-18 event includes a golf tournament and continuing education, and it will culminate with the presentation of the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.

School appoints assistant dean for medical center affairs

Michael C. Todaro (PharmD 99), director of pharmacy at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, was appointed assistant dean for medical center affairs at the UM School of Pharmacy. By creating the assistant dean position, the pharmacy school will continue to build upon its longstanding relationship with UMMC.

UM, UMMC engage young students at Delta career fair

Faculty and students from several University of Mississippi and University of Mississippi Medical Center schools recently attended a medical career fair at Kirkpatrick Elementary in Clarksdale. The fair exposed young students to various health care professions. Eight School of Pharmacy students were present and encouraged the children to consider a career in pharmacy.

New student organization addresses pharmacy advocacy

UMAC members attended Pharmacist Day at the Capitol earlier this year.

School of Pharmacy students have created a new organization to focus on advocacy for pharmacists. With two third-year professional students leading the effort, the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy Student Advocacy Committee will address the need for more pharmacy policy and advocacy awareness within the school’s student body.
