Technical Assistance

The FTDC staff are happy to assist UM faculty, staff, and TAs with issues related to software and hardware. We provide support for Blackboard, Panopto, Test Scoring, Faculty Activity Reports, Course Materials Management, and other applications that run on the University's campus-wide systems. The best way to reach us is by email. All Blackboard or Panopto related questions should be addressed to blackboard@olemiss.edu. Any other request for assistance can be directed to ftdc@olemiss.edu. Additionally, you can call 662-915-7918 and speak to an FTDC student worker weekdays between 8:00am and 5:00pm. FTDC Staff are also available for virtual office hours via Zoom weekdays from 1:00-2:00 pm and for one-on-one remote support sessions as needed.

You are invited to Blackboard Day at UM! On March 5th, Blackboard representatives will be on campus to team up with the Faculty Technology Development Center to show you the next generation Blackboard Learn environment, Ultra.

What is Blackboard Learn Ultra?
Blackboard Learn Ultra is a simple, modern, updated, and more intuitive course environment that is easier for instructors and students. Simplified tools and streamlined workflows help learners and instructors stay organized and easily engage with content and each other.

Who should attend?
If you are a faculty or staff member that designs courses in the current Blackboard Learn Original environment, we encourage you to attend a session. This is a great opportunity to see what features are available in Ultra! If you are currently using Ultra format in your courses, there will be advanced session tracks in the afternoon for you as well.

The Blackboard App is available for students and instructors as a free download for Apple and Android devices. Download it today, and take Blackboard with you wherever you go.



Zoom

The University now offers a licensed Zoom account to all UM employees and students. To get the license account, go to olemiss.zoom.us and sign in with your WebID and password. Once you have logged in this way you will have a licensed Zoom account with the ability to host up to 300 participants for an unlimited length of time. If you have any trouble or if you have any questions, you can contact zoom@olemiss.edu.



Secure, Online File Sharing and Storage Available through Box.com

Box.com is a secure, online file sharing and storage service. Content on Box can be accessed from your computer and through iPad, iPhone and Android devices via the Box app. Box is a good resource for storing and sharing files, authoring content, and encouraging collaboration. All current UM faculty, staff, and students are provided a free Box account with 1 TB of storage space.
